Did you know that an estimated total of 27,700 Canadian women and 260 Canadian men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year?

The CIBC Run For The Cure unites Canadians who are dedicated to changing the future of breast cancer. It is Canada’s largest single-day, volunteer-led event in support of the breast cancer cause, and many of us at RE/MAX of Nanaimo have participated as individuals or teams in this 5km run throughout the years.

We have created memories for every event we’ve attended. It is a cause that is near and dear to our hearts.

In 2021, Canadians from across the country raised over $10.6 million to support people affected by breast cancer. As a result of the millions of dollars raised for cancer research, 88% of women and 80% of men with breast cancer survive at least 5 years past their diagnosis.

We all know of someone impacted by breats cancer. Our participants include breast cancer survivors, people living with or fighting breast cancer, as well as those who carry genetic risk for disease.

Everyone who joins the Run for the Cure has a story of why they signed up for the first time. The first run is a memory that our team remembers most fondly. It is a powerful thing when so many come together to fight for one common goal; to find a cure for, and raise awareness about breast cancer – as well as honouring those who we have lost, and show support for those who are still fighting.

This year, RE/MAX of Nanaimo has a tent at the event as a silver sponsor, and many of our staff and REALTORS® will be joining the run as well.
